question about import of the animations

hey guys i have a question about importing the animations. i don't know exactly if it is possible to get the animations from tl2 to work in lets say max or maya.
i read a post in the runic forum about importing the anims from tl1 but i don't get it to work. maybe someone over here knows how to make it working just fine.
i tried to import the mesh first then the skeleton, so far everything works fine. the mesh is skinned and no errors, but when i import lets say the attack/run anim mark all the keys and bake them down like it is explained in the post, i till have no animations.
i wanted to take a look at a few anims to see how long they are and how they exactly look, because if i get this to work i wanted to try this on a new model and wanted to see if i get it ingame.
maybe someone is able to explain me a way to get this working correctly in max or maya.
