I've got that covered, Taran. My next class will only have maybe a couple of summons in it.

The ranger has minimal or no summons..
People motivate themselves, and are inspired by others.

Gonna be honest...you do to much summon. I would not make another summon class but instead work on something else.

NOOOO!
I want that summoning class.
Disagree with you Taran.

I put my vote in for Varks and their dragonkin, because I am a rabid fan of dragons and any creature even remotely resembling them. *sighs* oh well despite the fact that both the Warlock and the Necro both have a Dragon in their skill tabs I am still longing for the day that I can have have a summoner that has a flock of multicolored dragons fighting for him. mwahaha. This is just the idle dreaming of a dracophiliac.....so don't pay much heed to the previous comments.

However by the looks of things the rest of the community has their hearts set on Elementals. There have been a few interesting suggestions so far for the kinds of Elementals, passives/buffs ect. I have this odd compulsion to suggest something a little different than your classic Elemental (for TL2 this is Fire/Ice/Lightning/Poison) types. I would take it a half a step further with quasi-elementals instead. So Steam, Smoke,  Plasma, Ash ect. could be minor summon types that passively buff your summons or debuff the mobs, depending on how one would code such a thing. Of course this is just some of my ideas so Salan and whomever else may be involved in the coding for the Elementalist can either take or leave these ideas as they see fit.

as you can guess by how much I use them, and the fact I am planning an act 6 around the mysterious dragon riders, I love me some dragons too!

The question I have for you is...Is your home littered with all kinds of dragon like trinkets and such? My place is adorned with figurine dragons, dragon lamps, dragon statues, posters, shirts, many of my mtg decks are dragon themed ect. So yea I am a dragon nut, though my roommates won't allow me to own a genetically engineered "tiny" black dragon that I train to perch on my shoulder and spit gobs of acid on people who I don't like. *pouts*

I voted other.

If anyone has played dekaron, I would love a summy from there. Ever since dekaron, "summoner" has conjured up images of ,my days online. The summoner there has two weapon usage skill trees, twinblades (held in reverse look amazing), and staff(the more magical side). The third being the summoning skills. He had iconic skills(in my opinion), like dark avatar where he summons a guard from the nether that would conjure spikes that do massive aoe damage, and his vicious mirror which spawned illusions of himself which attack in a pentagram style. Another skill which can be implemented into any summoner class is a soul link skill which lets you share incomming damage with summoned pets. His element damage was poison and could summon various creatures, the stronger of which have skills which can be commanded to be used.  I made plans to make a dekaron summoner (looked at in-game skills I can utilise), but never found the time to actually attempted it. I understand that this class isn't a traditional summoner where you just sit back and let your minions do the fighting, but still wanted to express my idea of a summoner.

I know this is old now...

I had a concept for a strictly summoning class kicking around in my head a few months back.  It was thus:

The Master of Puppets (black leather jacket and sunglasses for starting gear, of course)
--------------------------

The character would summon humanoid puppets, ala your 'army general' idea but more along the line of toy soldiers.  It would have 3 types of skills:

Puppets
Commands
Control

Puppets are of course the different flavors of summon available.

Commands would be skills that trigger your puppets to take a certain action.  These could be specifically tied to a particular puppet, so, e.g. you have a 'Pawn' summon (a slow-moving knight with shield and sword), and cast a command, perhaps 'Shield Wall' which forces the Pawn to stop moving/attacking, raise its shield and start deflecting missiles/damage.

Control spells would be curses/buffs/area control abilities.

its really not old .. I'm still going to make this class after tier1.

hey salan!! im not back yet. haven't played in like 8 months but truck driving is going well. Im sneaking this in here to see if your awake brutha :)

I love the robotic/techno summoner idea. I know the main class has one (kinda) but you could make it epic. The elemental one sounds sweet to. Im just tired of the demon/dark summoners. there needs to be a powerful summoner class with a different theme. Nature/element/techno all seem like great ideas. Yet, the human general could be cool. ordering out (summoning), foot soldiers, explosive specialists, special forces dudes, k-9 squad..... I mean with a military theme you could have a lot of ideas..... all sound great!!! and im coming off the road by the end of the year so a new summoner would make me happy and be a great home coming gift from the epic Salan!! Keep up the great work!!

Hiyaz peeps...aarrgghh been forever since I last played. Bah 'nuff 'bout that.
Before I get started...Salan and team, wholly shizz!!! AWESOME job you peeps are doing with this, KEEP UP DA GOODS ; )~
So I seez to meself...self, dontcha miss the Ritualist in Guild Wars? If you ever played it, you would be hooked. Check out gameplay on youtube.
Premise? 3 ways to play, but the healer would not be applicable in TL2 (unless you incorporate and eliminate pots in PvP, lololo.
So left is the Spirit Spammer, raise spirits (like the chained gouls) in groups or individually, they fire upon the beasties drag along and kill everything. I will also think about 2 other skill trees to implement to create 2/3 other builds. The animation would look epic in the steampunk environment that is TL2...thoughts???
